April 2013

It feels like spring is finally here – a mix of warmer temperatures and rain or snow falling from the sky – at least we’re hoping for some good moisture this spring.

Thanks to everyone who came and visited with us at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo! I know the weather kept many away, but we sure had a great weekend. A big thank you to Larry and Becky for giving us a large hand this year, putting in some extra volunteer duties with a couple people stuck at home due to the weather. It’s always great meeting new people and seeing old friends at the Expo!

Thanks also to everyone who rode in our demonstrations and especially to Sabrina who was there with her horse Sophie to fill in last-minute for our trailer loading demonstration. We also had some terrific volunteers in our Conquering Multi-User Trail demonstrations each day who volunteered to hike – complete with a stuffed bear in a baby backpack, bike (Mark took over this duty every day) and walk with our dogs, Maggie and Kona. Surprisingly, no one was volunteering to be a trail runner to join in the chaos we gradually accustomed the horses to accept. All the rider and volunteers did a wonderful job each day!

Our clinic sign-up for this year is in full-swing. Clinics are filling much more quickly than normal. Our Advanced Trail Riding Clinic at Winding River Ranch (June 21-23) is now down to two more rider spots left (and the Ranch’s lodging options are also filling quickly. The next price increase for this clinic is May 21. Our Creating the Ultimate Trail Horse Clinic (July 6-7) is now down to just three more riders with the next price increase May 31. Our Advanced Trail Clinic at M Lazy C Ranch (August 9-11) is has four more rider spots with the next price increase May 16. Enjoy your horse on the trail this summer in one of these great clinics!             We still have openings for our private and semi-private clinics and are booking a few more clinics. Please contact us if you are interested.

We are in the midst of planning and laying out the Equestrian Skills Park proposed for ElPaso County Parks in Colorado Springs. The Skills Park has even got some TV air time thanks to a story on KOAA Channel 5. Watch the story at http://www.koaa.com/news/equestrian-skills-park-proposed-for-el-paso-county/. To learn more about this one-of-a-kind park for all levels and ages of equestrians, please visit our Equestrian Skills Park tab or check it out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/FriendsOfTheEquestrianSkillsPark?ref=hl.
